VACCINE RECALL- Ixiaro- Japanese Encephalitis

by traveladmin 14. June 2011 10:03

Recall of IXIARO® Vaccine Batch JEV09L37 - The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is recommending that some travellers previously immunised against Japanese encephalitis using IXIARO® vaccine are revaccinated. This recommendation follows the recall of a particular batch of vaccine that is considered to be less potent than normal. The batch number of the vaccine involved is JEV09L37.

Some of our patients have received this vaccine- we are in the process of informing those who have.

The potency of these vaccines are thought to be reduced, and do not provide sufficient protection against the disease Japanese B encephalitis. The vaccines can do you no harm, but you will be provided with free vaccine if you attend the clinic within the next 6 months

It is recommended that you attend the Travel Clinic Ltd and start the course again with 2 vaccines, with a month between the 2 doses

Please phone for an appointment and make the receptionist aware of the reason you are attending, if you are travelling in the near future and want to discuss future vaccine need, please make a longer appointment.
